Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Holds Public Hearing on Draft of Radiological Environmental Impact Assessment for Hanul Units 1 and 2

Event for Uljin, Bonghwa, and Samcheok Local Governments to Be Held on 25th-26th

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director Lee Seyong) held a ‘Draft Public Hearing on the Radiological Environmental Impact Assessment for the Continued Operation of Hanul Units 1 and 2’ at the Hanul Headquarters PR Center Auditorium for residents of Uljin County and Bonghwa County on the 25th, and for residents of towns and townships in Samcheok City on the 26th.

At the public hearing, the results of the radiological environmental impact assessment for the continued operation of Hanul Units 1 and 2, as well as the results of the public inspection conducted in March, were explained.


Subsequently, a panel of experts was formed with Professor Bang Incheol of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) as the chair, and responses were provided to statements of opinion submitted in advance by residents and to questions raised on site.


The main topics discussed included safe continued operation, building trust with local residents, revitalizing the local economy, and measures for mutual growth with the community.


The Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters concluded the public hearing in compliance with relevant laws and plans to submit the final version of the radiological environmental impact assessment, reflecting the opinions of the residents, to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission.
