Opening Ceremony for Road Expansion and Paving Project from Yea-an-myeon, Yeongyang-gun to Cheonggi-myeon, Andong-si

The road expansion and paving project connecting Yean in Yeongyang County, North Gyeongsang Province, and Cheonggi in Andong City has been completed, and an opening ceremony was held on the 26th.

The event, held in Cheonggi-myeon, Yeongyang County, was attended by Oh Dochang, Governor of Yeongyang County, Kim Seokhyeon, Chairman of Yeongyang County Council, Kim Youngbeom, Vice Chairman, Kwon Yongdae, Director of Urban Construction Bureau of Andong City, Kwon Kiik, Chairman of Andong City Council, Kim Gyeongdo, Vice Chairman, and representatives of local residents.

The road between Yean and Cheonggi is a section of Provincial Road No. 920, connecting Ingae-ri in Yean-myeon, Andong City, and Jeongjok-ri in Cheonggi-myeon, Yeongyang County, with a length of 9.03 km and a width of 8.5 m.

North Gyeongsang Province invested a total of 49 billion KRW in the construction of this provincial road, which was carried out over approximately eight years from 2016 to June 2024. With the opening of this road, accessibility between Yeongyang County and Andong City is expected to improve, enhancing the living conditions of local residents.

Currently, Yeongyang County and Andong City are promoting a detailed design through a business agreement to improve the alignment of the dangerous Maryeong-Sanhae road. Once this project is completed, accessibility between Yeongyang County and Andong City is expected to further improve, revitalizing exchanges between the two local governments.

Oh Dochang, Governor of Yeongyang County, said, "With the completion of the Yean-Cheonggi road expansion and paving project, we have laid the foundation to shed Yeongyang County's reputation as a remote area in terms of transportation."
