Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that the agenda for the 'Commercial and Business Site in the Gwangwoon University Station Area Development Project' was approved at the 12th Seoul Metropolitan Government Architecture Committee meeting held on the 25th.

The 'Commercial and Business Site' is the location where the headquarters of Hyundai Development Company, a result of the tripartite business agreement for the Gwangwoon University Station logistics site held at Seoul City Hall on the 22nd of last month, is scheduled to relocate. It is planned to include retail facilities, office facilities, and tourist accommodation facilities.

In particular, the approved design plan features a cube-shaped design with enhanced facades, expected to become a landmark during the day and a scenic attraction at night.

The main building of the commercial and business site will be 15 stories above ground and 5 stories underground, with ▲retail facilities on the lower floors ▲office facilities on the middle floors ▲and a 5-star hotel on the upper floors. The annex building connected to the main building is planned as a 7-story retail facility.

Through the interior courtyard, the building offers a sense of openness inside, while the courtyard space will be used as a lobby for campus-style offices or as a banquet space for the hotel.

Outside, two public open spaces are planned to strengthen the public pedestrian passage crossing the entire project site, and street-facing retail facilities continuing from the mixed-use site are also arranged in connection.

Based on the achievement of passing the Architecture Committee review, the district plans to invigorate local job creation by attracting large corporations and transform the Gwangwoon University Station logistics site area into a new landmark in the northeastern region.

Furthermore, to ensure smooth project progress, related agencies will be consulted, and various impact assessments, architectural permits, and other administrative procedures will be sequentially undertaken. The target start date for construction is September 2024.
