Gyeonggi Province's 'DMZ Peace Train' will begin its first operation of the year on the 29th of this month.

The DMZ Peace Train, operated by Gyeonggi Province, is a round-trip train that departs from Gwangmyeong Station, stops at Yongsan Station, Ilsan Station, Imjingang Station, and Dorasan Station, and then returns to Gwangmyeong Station. It is scheduled to operate a total of 11 times until November 16th.

First launched last year, the Peace Train was operated in conjunction with events such as the DMZ Open Festival, DMZ Marathon, and Peace Walk.

Last year, the train used Mugunghwa and Saemaeul trains, running a round trip that passed through Suwon Station, Anyang Station, Seoul Station, Munsan Station, and Imjingang Station before arriving at Dorasan Station, operating a total of 10 times. A total of 1,666 customers used this train, with 1,042 disembarking at Dorasan Station and 624 at Imjingang Station.

This year, for safety and other reasons, the type of train, departure station, and stops have been partially changed.

The train operates twice a month (on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays). On the first Saturday, passengers disembark at Imjingang Station for a free travel experience. On the third Saturday, passengers disembark at Dorasan Station and participate in Minbuk tourism, which tours the northern area beyond the Civilian Control Line.

Special programs have been newly established for passengers using the train, especially youth passengers, including cultural narrators on board who share stories related to history, and cultural and talk programs with a unification documentary director.
