Through an emergency safety inspection meeting held that day, the city identified local businesses with fire and explosion risks and plans to carry out joint activities with the Pyeongtaek Fire Station by the end of this month to prevent large-scale fire accidents caused by hazardous materials.

The emergency safety inspection targets include businesses handling primary batteries, companies related to hazardous chemicals, and waste disposal companies, all of which have a high risk of large fires.

The city plans to immediately correct any vulnerable facilities found during the inspection, and if immediate improvement is difficult, temporary measures will be taken followed by re-inspection. Additionally, safety education on hazardous material handling and disaster response procedures will be conducted, and separate additional inspections will be guided for each company.

Jung Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, expressed, "I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families," and added, "We will thoroughly inspect hazardous chemical companies and waste disposal companies with high fire risk to prevent any further unforeseen accidents."
