Impact of Joseon+ Construction Relay Orders
HJ Heavy Industries announced on the 26th that it surpassed 2 trillion won in orders by combining its two major business sectors, construction and shipbuilding, in the first half of this year. The accumulated order backlog exceeded 730 billion won.
In the construction sector, the company built up its order performance through public projects. Starting with the dismantling work of Ulsan Thermal Power Units 4, 5, and 6 at the beginning of the year, it secured orders in civil engineering, architecture, and plant fields such as the Namyangju Yangjeong Station Area Urban Development Project, the National Korean Literature Museum construction, Chosun University Hospital Honam Infection Specialized Hospital, and the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Myeongji District Phase 2. This month, it consecutively won orders for the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX)-B line and Saemangeum International Airport. It secured new orders worth about 1 trillion won from public projects alone.
The urban renewal business has seen orders increase by more than 20% annually over the past three years. This year, it secured five renewal projects in Busan and Bucheon, with order amounts exceeding 300 billion won.
In the shipbuilding sector, on the 20th, the company signed a construction contract with a European shipowner for four eco-friendly container ships of 7,900 TEU class worth 600 billion won, building up its performance.
An HJ Heavy Industries official stated, "Despite difficult conditions such as economic recession and rising raw material costs, our order performance showed a remarkable increase compared to the previous year," adding, "By focusing on specialized fields, we will secure high-profit, high-quality work and achieve a virtuous cycle structure that enhances corporate value."
