First in Korea, BMC Park Launches Its Own Brand Name
Citizens and Experts Participate in Park Brand Development
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) has selected "Gongwonbichae" as the brand name for the parks developed by BMC.
"Gongwonbichae" embodies the corporation's identity of filling Busan's empty spaces with diverse parks, and symbolizes citizens approaching the firefly light (bichae) that represents BMC.
This park brand naming project was initiated to effectively promote the parks developed by BMC and to enhance their competitiveness and recognition.
To develop a high-quality brand, BMC conducted an online and offline preference survey from June 5 to 16, targeting the general public as well as internal and external stakeholders.
To reflect the opinions of citizens who actually use parks and green spaces, preference surveys were conducted at locations such as Busan Citizens Park and Osiria Coastal Walkway, with a total of 979 citizens participating.
The preference survey included five candidate names: "Dadeun," which was awarded in the previous brand naming contest, as well as "Gongwonbichae," "Pulrit," "Riden," and "Gongwonchaedeun." Among these, "Gongwonbichae," which received the most votes, was ultimately selected as the official BMC park brand name.
With the selection of the park brand name, BMC will now proceed with the development of the brand design. Once the service is completed in September, the brand name will be applied to the representative parks in each project district promoted by the corporation. In addition, the brand logo will be introduced to landscaping facilities as part of a full-scale promotional effort.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "Through Gongwonbichae, the nation's first park brand, we will do our best to enhance the value of the parks created by our corporation and to raise public awareness and continuous interest."
