Jeju Fire Department Successfully Concludes '119 Firefighting Policy Conference Presentation Contest'

The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Go Min-ja) announced on the 26th that the "36th Provincial 119 Fire Policy Conference" was held the previous day at the Jeju Fire Education Center.

The 119 Fire Policy Conference has been held annually since 1982 to develop fire policies aimed at protecting public safety and to strengthen response capabilities in the event of various disasters.

About 30 research teams representing four fire stations in the province participated in this conference to present their research papers.

As a result of fierce competition among the fire stations, the research team from Dongbu Fire Station won the prestigious Grand Prize for devising efficient on-site response measures and applying safety accident prevention strategies for field personnel, focusing on the fire risks of masonry truss structure buildings.

The Jeju Fire Station research team received the Excellence Award for presenting improvements to mental health policies aimed at enhancing the job performance capabilities of fire officers.

Dongbu Fire Station, which won the Grand Prize, will represent Jeju at the national competition hosted by the Central Fire Academy in October.

Chief Go Min-ja said, "I commend all research teams for their dedication to creative policy development through deep consideration of fire-related issues," and added, "We will continue to systematically conduct research activities to discover innovative fire policies capable of responding to rapidly changing disaster situations and take responsibility for the safety of the residents."
