Yun Jeong-min, a member of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City, requested the addition of 9 holes and restrooms at the Deokheung-dong Park Golf Course, as well as consideration for additional facilities in Seochang-dong and other areas within the district, during a 5-minute free speech at the 3rd plenary session of the 1st regular meeting of the 322nd session held on the 25th.
Councilor Yun stated, “Park golf is called a ‘three-generation sport’ because it is a lifestyle sport that various generations can enjoy together, and recently, the age groups entering the sport have become more diverse. Park golf is gaining attention as an active exercise method for disease prevention and economic ripple effects. Nevertheless, the size and facilities of park golf courses within the district are still insufficient. I request the expansion and supplementation of the facilities at the Deokheung-dong Park Golf Course and propose the creation of additional park golf courses within the district.”
Councilor Yun continued, “The additional construction of the Deokheung-dong Park Golf Course, which has been discussed several times, has currently received approval from the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, and it has been confirmed that the permit will be issued in July. We expect visible progress in the expansion of the park golf course. Furthermore, there is no restroom near the park golf course, forcing users to use restrooms located far away, causing inconvenience. I urge prompt review and implementation of restroom installation.”
He also proposed, “The Seungchon Park Golf Course in Nam-gu temporarily opened 36 holes by adding 18 holes within less than two years after its initial opening. It is known that the Ministry of Environment was persistently persuaded for this. I propose the construction of a 36-hole park golf course on the Ministry of National Defense site in Seochang-dong within the district, and request a detailed review along with the plan for the Central Park Golf Course.”
