Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it will newly install fire hydrants at 32 locations within the city by 2026 to establish a rapid and smooth water supply system at disaster sites. This project is being promoted with support from Gyeonggi Province, and the city will invest 192 million KRW over three years from this year to 2026.
Through this project, the city plans to expand firefighting water facilities in response to increased demand for firefighting water due to the large size and concentration of target buildings during fires, and to utilize alternative water sources and disinfection work amid ongoing social disasters such as droughts and epidemics.
The city will first invest 66 million KRW this year to install 10 new fire hydrants. In consultation with the Osan Fire Station, areas lacking firefighting water facilities and fire-vulnerable areas have been selected, and the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.
Im Doobin, head of the Waterworks Division of Osan City, said, "Through this project, we will establish a rapid and smooth water supply system at disaster sites by reinforcing firefighting water facilities tailored to regional characteristics and environmental changes such as social and natural disasters."
