Seong Il-jong "Won Hee-ryong running with Yoon's heart? People Power Party will collapse... We are all pro-Yoon"

"Success Must Center on the President for Regime Reproduction to Be Possible"

Regarding former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong's candidacy for the People Power Party leadership, and the criticism that 'Yunsim' (President Yoon Seok-yeol's intention) was at play, Seong Il-jong, Secretary General of the People Power Party, drew a clear line by stating, "There is no Yunsim."

Secretary General Seong appeared on YTN Radio's 'News Fighting' on the 26th and said, "Where is Yunsim? If Yunsim were operating now, our party would collapse."

He said, "Hwang Woo-yeo, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, also clearly stated that 'there is absolutely no connection between Yongsan and any specific candidate.' While it is possible to speculate that Minister Won Hee-ryong is being supported because he was the first Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, it is just speculation. The President has also said several times that he would not do such things," he emphasized.

Regarding the evaluation that this party convention is a battle between pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) and pro-Han (pro-Han Dong-hoon), he dismissed it by saying, "We are a broad pro-government camp, and everyone is pro-Yoon."

Secretary General Seong said, "The government must succeed under the President's leadership for regime re-creation to be possible. However, in a democratic party, various opinions emerge and goals may differ. Especially in this election process, it is helpful for voting to clearly express one's opinions. I hope this can be understood in that way. It is not desirable to distinguish between pro-Han and pro-Yoon like this," he said.

Regarding People Power Party leadership candidate Yoon Sang-hyun's remark that "the President's withdrawal from the party cannot be ruled out," he said, "The People Power Party is the party that gave birth to and established the Yoon Seok-yeol government, so what withdrawal are we talking about? This is something that would not be said except during elections."

About Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, who has expressed his intention to resign taking responsibility for the National Assembly organization negotiations and has been in seclusion, he said, "He has been deeply hurt this time," and added, "It seems he has no desire to return. His phone is even turned off."

He continued, "No matter how much you attack and push hard, on one side there is negotiation and some concessions, but currently, there is no such room in the National Assembly. Since the opposition camp itself holds nearly 200 seats, Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho's position is very narrow. It will probably not be easy for him to return for the time being," he said.
