Paratech announced on the 26th that it is taking the lead in establishing a foundation for fire-safe industrial environments.
Paratech is focusing on developing technologies to respond to battery fires, securing six technology patents applicable to fires involving lithium batteries and other types of batteries.
According to the company, the registered patents related to battery modules such as ESS (Energy Storage Systems) include a total of six: ▲magnet holder type fire extinguishing device for battery modules ▲injection nozzle type fire extinguishing device for battery modules ▲battery module type fire extinguishing device ▲sprinkler nozzle for battery module fire suppression ▲equipment-attached automatic fire extinguishing device equipped with auxiliary extinguishing means ▲equipment-attached automatic fire extinguishing device.
Recently, a fire at a lithium battery factory in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province resulted in casualties. Lithium-ion battery fires occur due to a thermal runaway phenomenon. These fires happen when the separator is damaged, causing contact and overheating between the cathode and anode, and because heat continues to be generated internally, fire suppression is particularly difficult.
Paratech plans to establish a fire extinguishing device system applicable to battery factory fires to minimize related damages. In addition, Paratech is accelerating product development for warehouse fire response by recently strengthening its lineup of warehouse-type sprinkler systems.
A Paratech representative stated, “We will continue ongoing research and development to reduce damage caused by battery fires,” adding, “Paratech will contribute to building fire-safe industrial environments.”
