Maintains Performance Even After Twice the Time Compared to Regular Remicon
Slump Retention Time Adjustable Up to 4 Hours
Yujin Corporation announced on the 26th that it has established a commercialization system for ‘super-delayed ready-mixed concrete’ that can maintain construction performance even after more than twice the time compared to regular ready-mixed concrete.
Super-delayed ready-mixed concrete is a technology that further enhances the slump retention performance of polycarboxylate, a high-performance water reducer used in conventional ready-mixed concrete, by utilizing polymer synthesis. It can secure high-quality concrete quality for a long time even at an average daily temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. The slump retention time can be adjusted up to 4 hours according to site requirements. Its greatest strength is the ability to provide stable ready-mixed concrete on time at construction sites in urban areas with heavy traffic and during hot summer seasons with high average temperatures.
Ready-mixed concrete has the characteristic that it hardens over time due to the hydration reaction of cement, the raw material, so it must be poured within a certain time. In summer, the cement hydration reaction accelerates, further limiting the pouring time, and when the average daily temperature exceeds 25 degrees Celsius or the maximum temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, medium-temperature concrete must be used. For regular ready-mixed concrete, when the outside temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius, the pouring completion time must not exceed 90 minutes, and when below 25 degrees Celsius, it must not exceed 120 minutes. Medium-temperature concrete also has time restrictions for pouring completion, and since the temperature of the ready-mixed concrete must be managed below 35 degrees Celsius, quality control is challenging.
In response, Yujin Corporation has continued research and development of super-delayed ready-mixed concrete to provide high-quality ready-mixed concrete to construction sites in a timely manner. Last year, it secured stability by pilot supplying to some sites. Subsequently, through collaboration with Silkroad S&T, a customized super-delayed ready-mixed concrete production system was created according to the construction site’s pouring requirements.
A Yujin Corporation research institute official said, “Due to the rise in average temperatures during summer, we commercialized super-delayed concrete to solve the problems of construction stoppages and ready-mixed concrete quality degradation caused by traffic congestion at construction sites and to meet customer needs. Since quality assurance is currently the biggest issue in the construction industry, we will continue research and development to provide high-quality ready-mixed concrete.”
