911-like Agility... Porsche's First Electric SUV 'Macan Electric' Porsche Macan Electric 4 Turbo

Porsche is introducing its first-ever pure electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the 'Macan Electric.' By using heavy batteries to lower the center of gravity and precisely distributing weight front and rear, it secures dynamic performance.

Porsche Korea unveiled the 'Macan Electric' on the 24th at the 'Porsche Studio Songpa' in Seoul. It is Porsche's second electric vehicle following the Taycan and the first pure electric SUV they have made. With the launch of this next-generation model, Porsche discontinued the existing internal combustion engine models and now offers only electric models. Holger Geyermann, CEO of Porsche Korea, emphasized, "The Macan Electric combines the typical Porsche dynamics, progressive design, and everyday practicality," adding, "It will be a game changer in the market."

Porsche revealed the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo trims at the event. Regarding maximum horsepower and torque, the Macan 4 delivers 408 horsepower and 66.3 kgf·m, while the Macan 4 Turbo produces 639 horsepower and 115.2 kgf·m. The Macan Turbo accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. The top speeds are 220 km/h and 260 km/h, respectively. Lee Seok-jae, Director of Porsche Korea, explained, "By installing the battery, the center of gravity was lowered by nearly 13 mm, enabling more dynamic driving," and added, "It will feel agile to drive, not like an SUV but like a flagship and iconic model such as the 911."

While the 'size' saw no significant changes, the interior space has expanded. The Macan Electric's length is 4,784 mm, width is 1,938 mm, and height is 1,622 mm. Only the length increased by 85 mm, with the rest showing little difference from the previous generation. However, the wheelbase (distance between front and rear axles) increased by 86 mm from 2,807 mm to 2,893 mm, nearly matching the wheelbase of the higher-class SUV, the Cayenne, which is 2,895 mm.

The driving range on a full charge, based on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), is 613 km for the Electric and 591 km for the Electric Turbo. Equipped with an 800V high-voltage charging system, it can fast-charge up to 80% in about 20 minutes (based on a charging output of 270 kW). It is scheduled to be released domestically by the end of the year, with the price yet to be determined.
