India Emerges as Russia's New Economic Partner

According to major foreign media, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, said at a briefing that regarding reports of Modi's possible visit to Russia in July, "We are preparing for the visit and will inform you of the specific date at an appropriate time."
If Prime Minister Modi visits Russia, it will be the first visit since the outbreak of the Ukraine war in 2022. If the visit takes place, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation and solutions to the Ukraine war.
After the outbreak of the Ukraine war, when the West imposed sanctions on Russia, India did not participate and emerged as a new economic partner for Russia, whose export routes were blocked. At the Ukraine peace conference held on the 15th in Wurgenstock, Switzerland, attended by delegations from 100 countries, the Indian delegation did not sign the joint statement.
Russia and India also maintain close relations as members of international organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which do not include major Western countries.
