Dongmyung University Hosts Breakfast Forum with Pianist Kim Mikyung, Korea's First Piano Docent

The History of the Piano and Mozart

Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) held a classical music breakfast forum on the 25th at the university's main administration building, with over 80 participants including heads of local institutions in Busan, CEOs, and students from the Well-Life Specialized University. The forum featured pianist Kim Mikyung, Korea's first piano docent.

Participants spent time learning in detail and empathizing with the history of the piano, a beloved instrument of great musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, under the theme "The History of the Piano and Mozart," as well as about Mozart, the first piano superstar.

Kim Mikyung, known as Korea's first piano docent and a pianist, is currently also the CEO of Jeju Culture Planning.

She serves as the piano docent at the World Automobile & Piano Museum, which has a 300-year history, and hosts explanatory music concerts featuring the unique stories of pianos cherished by great musicians, including the world's only rare piano sculpted by the world-renowned sculptor Auguste Rodin.

The Dongmyung University classical music breakfast forum began on May 14 and will continue with lectures every other Tuesday until November 26. The next forum, scheduled for July 9, will feature Yoo Jungwoo, a classical music columnist well known for KBS Masterpiece Scandal and a thoracic surgeon, who will give a lecture on "1791, Mozart's Final Days."
