Yongin City "Need to Realize the Allowance for Civil Service Exam Supervisors Frozen for 10 Years"

Proposal at Gyeonggi-do Mayors and Governors Council

On the 25th, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it proposed the realization of the allowance for civil servant recruitment written exam supervisors, which has been frozen for 10 years, at the regular meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Mayors and Governors Association held at Anyang Art Center in Anyang City.

The city's position is that although the civil servant recruitment written exam supervisors have many responsibilities and a high possibility of complaints, the allowance has been frozen at 60,000 won for 10 years since 2014, so motivation is needed.

When selected as a supervisor, they are assigned to the test sites for national and local civil servant recruitment written exams, managing the smooth progress of the exam by distributing and collecting question papers and answer sheets, and monitoring for cheating.

Among the total 1,994 people assigned to test sites in Gyeonggi Province for the national civil servant recruitment written exam held in May, 1,782 people (89.4%) were civil servants seconded from 31 cities and counties, excluding 212 civil servants belonging to Gyeonggi Province.

At the meeting, Ryu Gwang-yeol, the first deputy mayor of Yongin City, said, "The allowance for civil servant recruitment written exam supervisors remains at the level of 10 years ago, which is unrealistic," and added, "There is excessive reliance on basic local government civil servants as supervisors for the national civil servant recruitment written exam, so it is necessary to adjust the ratio of personnel seconded, including deploying central government civil servants." Deputy Mayor Ryu also proposed the establishment of an education allowance to ensure systematic training for supervisors.
