Jeonju Sinjungang Market-KB Kookmin Bank 'Janggeumi Partnership Ceremony'... First Nationwide Expansion Event

On the 11th, Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Financial Supervisory Service to Nationwide Expand 'Janggeumi' Activities

Appointment of Financial Security Officers, Street Campaign to Prevent Voice Phishing

"Stop voice phishing now!" "Warm cooperation between traditional markets and financial companies continues (溫&溫)."

The Jeonbuk Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration (Director Ahn Tae-yong, hereinafter Jeonbuk SMBA), under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, announced on the 25th that it held the 'Jeonju Shinjungang Market-KB Kookmin Bank Janggeum-i Partnership Ceremony' at Jeonju Shinjungang Market together with the Jeonbuk branch of the Financial Supervisory Service (Director Lee Hoon).

According to Jeonbuk SMBA, this partnership ceremony is the first regional-level event this year following the 'Janggeum-i Expansion Reporting Conference' held on the 11th by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Financial Supervisory Service, where they announced the nationwide expansion of the 'Janggeum-i' activities.

In the Jeonbuk region, this is the second event following last year's partnership with Jeonbuk Bank. It connects traditional markets and financial institutions to prevent financial fraud damage in traditional markets and to establish customized financial counseling desks. The term combines 'Jang (場)', meaning traditional market, and 'Geum (金)', meaning financial institution. It carries the meaning of healing difficulties through finance, like the name of the royal physician's wife during the Joseon Dynasty.

In April last year, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Financial Supervisory Service signed an agreement to promote the Janggeum-i partnership for preventing financial fraud damage to small merchants in traditional markets and for mutual financial growth. So far, 42 traditional markets and 10 banks nationwide have formed partnerships. They have conducted damage prevention publicity and education through market visits and street campaigns.

At the event, KB Kookmin Bank conducted a community mutual financial event by delivering goods purchased at Jeonju Shinjungang Market to local vulnerable groups susceptible to voice phishing. The market association president and a young merchant representative were also appointed as 'Financial Security Officers.' The 'Financial Security Officers' will serve as key figures in preventing and promoting awareness of financial crimes infringing on livelihoods within traditional markets after completing financial education.

Additionally, Jeonbuk SMBA, the Jeonbuk branch of the Financial Supervisory Service, and KB Kookmin Bank conducted a street campaign to prevent voice phishing damage throughout Jeonju Shinjungang Market. KB Kookmin Bank will operate an on-site "KB SOHO Consulting Center" for two days from the 25th to the 26th. Along with supporting customized financial products for small merchants in traditional markets, they will provide free consulting services to strengthen the business competitiveness of market merchants.

Ahn Tae-yong, Director of Jeonbuk SMBA, stated, "I hope this partnership will activate mutual development between traditional markets and financial companies and become an opportunity for co-growth."

Lee Hoon, Director of the Jeonbuk branch of the Financial Supervisory Service, said, "I expect the Janggeum-i partnership, which understands and heals the difficulties of traditional market merchants and local residents, to expand further."
