Dankook University Hospital announced on the 25th that it held a "Vestibular Function Test Workshop."

This workshop was organized online to exchange information on vestibular function tests, which are essential for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of dizziness.

According to statistical data released by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service in 2023, the number of dizziness patients exceeded one million, reaching 1,015,119. Experts emphasize the importance of accurately identifying whether the cause of dizziness is related to ear problems or neurological disorders for proper treatment.

Accordingly, about 250 otolaryngology and neurology medical staff from across the country participated in this workshop.

In particular, the workshop helped clinicians understand various tests conducted online, ranging from an introduction to dizziness and the anatomical and physiological basics of the vestibular system to nystagmus, rotating chair tests, dynamic posturography, otolith function tests, and customized vestibular rehabilitation therapy.

Practical sessions were also conducted afterward, including video nystagmography, caloric tests, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and dynamic posturography.

Meanwhile, Dankook University Hospital introduced ENG (electronystagmography), Rotating Chair, and Posturography devices upon its opening in 1994 and held the first vestibular function test workshop to promote research on dizziness.
