Kookmin University (President Seungryeol Jeong) Platform SME Research Center announced the successful conclusion of the ‘Monthly D-SME Education’ held monthly since February for digital entrepreneurs.
The ‘Monthly D-SME Education,’ held for the first time this year with about 100 platform-based online sellers who completed the 'D-SME Advanced Course' hosted by the Platform SME Research Center (Director Dohyun Kim, hereafter the Research Center), is a business-tailored education program conducted to support the growth of digital entrepreneurs.
The monthly themes and curriculum were planned by comprehensively gathering opinions and demands from business owners to create a practical education program beneficial to small business owners. The instructors consisted of top experts in each field such as SEO optimization, branding, and media PR. Various topics were covered including ▲February: Know-how for selecting government support projects (how to write business plans) ▲March: Utilizing generative AI (creating detailed pages using Chat GPT) ▲April: SEO optimization and top-ranking know-how (specific data utilization methods for SEO optimization) ▲May: Branding design: redefining brand identity (brand-building know-how through small brand success cases) ▲June: Media promotion for online sellers (know-how from writing to distributing press releases).
Moon Changmin, CEO of 'Gomgom Research Lab,' which sells pet snacks and supplements, was selected for the ‘2024 Strong Small Business Growth Support Project’ through the February government support project lecture.
Kim Youngho, CEO of 'Gana Socks,' which has manufactured and sold domestic socks for 40 years, said, “The branding lecture made me think fundamentally and helped practically solve problem elements.”
Also, Lee Sunhyung, CEO of 'Oho Corporation,' which sells eco-friendly toothbrushes, said, “The media promotion lecture was very helpful in learning how to write press releases, and I plan to apply the lecture content to actual press releases to be distributed.”
Director Dohyun Kim, who planned this education, said, “Recently, with the aggressive domestic entry of C-commerce platforms such as AliExpress and Temu, domestic business operators are facing increasing difficulties,” adding, “The Research Center will continue to provide professional education to strengthen the brand competitiveness of domestic digital entrepreneurs.”
The Research Center defines digital entrepreneurs (D-SME, Digital-Small and Medium Enterprise) as business operators conducting business activities based on digital platforms, including ‘online sellers’ and small business owners. According to the ‘2023 Issue Brief’ analyzed by the Research Center, the scale of domestic digital entrepreneurs reaches about 1.7 million people.
Meanwhile, the Research Center plans to recruit the 4th class of the 'D-SME Advanced Course' from late July to August 14. The number of recruits is about 30, targeting CEOs operating businesses based on online platforms.
