Special Lecture Topic 'Jeju and Me, and Connection'
Goheung-Jeju Industrial Exchange, Continued Cooperation on Hometown Love Donation System, etc.
Gong Young-min, former governor of Goheung County, Jeollanam-do, announced that he gave a special lecture titled "Jeju and Me, and Connection" at the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office on the afternoon of the 24th.
This special lecture was arranged at the request of Governor Oh Young-hoon and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office for Gong Young-min, who previously served as the Director of Planning and Management at Jeju Provincial Office and as the President of the Jeju Development Institute.
Prior to this, in January last year, during Gong Young-min’s visit to Jeju to promote a win-win development and exchange cooperation project between Jeju and Goheung, he donated hometown love funds. In June, Governor Oh Young-hoon was invited to Goheung County for a special lecture and also donated hometown love funds.
On this day as well, Goheung County and Jeju Province each donated 20 million won in hometown love funds, pledging to take the lead in continuous exchange and win-win development cooperation.
In the special lecture, Governor Gong explained his connection with Jeju, which began during his past work in Jeju, and introduced Goheung’s ecological environment, food, and the Naro Space Center.
He also shared the county administration vision of "Achieving a population of 100,000 in Goheung by 2030" and the three major future strategic industries to realize Goheung’s vision: establishing a space launch vehicle industry cluster, promoting drone and UAM tourism commercialization, and expanding the Goheung-type smart farm innovation valley.
Along with this, he proposed exchange and cooperation plans based on history, culture, geographical conditions, including logistics cooperation and the aerospace industry.
Meanwhile, on the 25th, promotional events for Goheung rice will be held at Seogwipo Nonghyup and Jeju City Nonghyup to promote Goheung rice in the Jeju regional agricultural cooperatives.
