KCS "One-Stop Origin Management System 'Patent Registered'... Promoting Overseas Distribution Expansion"

The Korea Customs Service's 'One-stop Origin Management System (OOMS)' has been registered as an invention patent.

According to the Korea Customs Service on the 25th, OOMS consists of ▲Origin Management System (FTA-PASS) ▲FTA Review System ▲Electronic Origin Data Exchange System (EODES), enabling integrated computerized processing of origin determination, origin certificate application and issuance, and electronic exchange of origin certificates between countries for the utilization of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

The Origin Management System helps companies with limited FTA experience and knowledge systematically and easily determine origin and prepare and apply for origin certification documents.

The FTA Review System supports customs and origin certificate issuing authorities' reviewers to quickly and accurately process applications based on automatically assigned company information, while the Electronic Origin Data Exchange System electronically exchanges origin certificate information between countries, enabling rapid customs clearance and reducing logistics costs without submitting paper origin certificates.

Since last year, the Korea Customs Service has been distributing OOMS to African countries as part of an FTA capacity-building project. This project was also adopted as a joint declaration at the '2024 Korea-Africa Summit' held on the 4th.

Building on the patent registration of OOMS, the Korea Customs Service plans to expand the distribution of OOMS to Southeast Asian and Latin American countries following African nations, and to discover and promote various FTA capacity-building projects targeting developing countries.

A Korea Customs Service official stated, “The patent registration recognizes the uniqueness of OOMS,” and added, “The Korea Customs Service will actively promote OOMS worldwide to digitalize international FTA administration and eliminate non-tariff barriers, striving to create a favorable trading environment for domestic companies.”
