Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, and Baek Il-heon, Deputy Mayor who worked together for over 2 years, appointed as Acting Director of Seoul Human Resources Development Institute, parting on good terms with warm feelings
Kim Kyung-ho, the mayor of Gwangjin District Office, smiled brightly as Deputy Mayor Baek Il-heon, who had worked with him for over two years, was appointed as the Acting Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Talent Development Institute in the recent high-level personnel reshuffle.
Mayor Kim was elected as the mayor of Gwangjin District in the 8th local election and took office on July 1, 2022. Baek Il-heon was the first deputy mayor to serve under him.
Deputy Mayor Baek passed the local civil service exam and was promoted to Grade 3 while working as the Seoul Metropolitan Government Budget Officer. He then served as the Financial Planning Officer and Safety General Officer before being appointed as Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin District on August 8 of the same year. Since then, he has quietly supported Mayor Kim’s philosophy of district administration.
In particular, he devoted himself to realizing Mayor Kim’s passion for transforming the organization into a “pleasant workplace” through smooth communication with the staff.
When Deputy Mayor Baek expressed his wish to transfer to the Seoul Metropolitan Government for his career advancement, Mayor Kim actively supported him, and Baek successfully settled into the Grade 2 position as Acting Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Talent Development Institute.
Thus, Mayor Kim was pleased to see Deputy Mayor Baek, who had shared hardships and joys for over two years, promoted and moving forward.
As the head of the organization, it is truly gratifying to see those under one’s leadership succeed.
Mayor Kim often showed special consideration during Deputy Mayor Baek’s tenure, strengthening their close bond.
Deputy Mayor Baek, who is also a junior alumnus of the Seoul Metropolitan Government civil service exam under Mayor Kim, never forgot to express his gratitude for the valuable opportunities he received.
This warm and beautiful relationship between the senior and junior mayor and deputy mayor is expected to become a gentle topic of conversation within the public service community.
