LGU+ Launches Generative AI 'Ixigen'... To Apply in 8 Services Within the Year

sLLM 'Ixigen' Trained on Telecom and Platform Data
Features Lightweight, Speed, Security, and High Reliability
AI Development Platform 'Ixi Solution' Also Unveiled

LG Uplus announced on the 25th that it has launched the generative artificial intelligence (AI) 'IXIZEN' and plans to apply it to eight AI services within the year. IXIZEN is a small language model (sLLM) based on LG AI Research's 'ExaONE' and trained with LG Uplus's telecommunications and platform data.

LG Uplus highlighted 'lightness' and 'speed' as the advantages of IXIZEN. IXIZEN significantly reduced the fine-tuning time required to train knowledge and data related to the telecommunications sector and make it practically usable. This enables the rapid application of generative AI to telecommunication services. Other companies can also enhance performance by further training IXIZEN with knowledge specific to their industries and applying it.

Security was also emphasized. Since it is a lightweight model, it can be used as an on-premises solution installed directly on corporate servers. In this case, corporate data does not leave the premises, reducing concerns about data leakage.

It can also be utilized in cloud environments. LG Uplus provides customers with system infrastructure and service consulting to enhance security in such cases. Moreover, IXIZEN is developed based on ExaONE, which is trained on data cleared of license issues and filtered for harmful information, minimizing risks related to intellectual property rights and copyright issues.

LG Uplus plans to apply IXIZEN to eight AI services within the year, including network (NW) work agents that design, operate, and optimize infrastructure systems, chat agents, and mobile store advisors. Previously, LG Uplus applied IXIZEN to NW work agents to help field workers quickly handle faults.

They also introduced the IXI Solution, an AI development platform based on IXIZEN. Professional developers can easily develop and apply new AI services through this platform, while non-experts can test AI services and utilize them in the field with simple tasks. LG Uplus plans to make this available to its employees.

LG Uplus is also expanding its 'Multi LLM' strategy, collaborating with global big tech companies and technology specialists. They have established a system that provides accurate answers and secured technical capabilities such as data pre- and post-processing and building safety layers (technology that verifies whether information is accurately exposed).

Hwang Gyu-byeol, Chief Data Officer (CDO) of LG Uplus, said, "Going forward, LG Uplus will enhance AI technology by increasing the use cases of IXIZEN and IXI Solution, accelerate AI transformation (AX) innovation, and speed up business expansion into the business-to-business (B2B) sector."
