Gwangjin-gu Provides Free Bottled Water to Mobile Workers in Preparation for Heatwave

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting a free bottled water support project for mobile workers in collaboration with the entrusted organization, Gwangjin-gu Labor Welfare Center.

Mobile workers such as delivery and courier drivers spend a lot of time outdoors and need to be cautious of heat-related illnesses during the summer. Accordingly, the district has launched full-scale support to guarantee mobile workers' right to rest and prevent safety accidents.

The bottled water distribution takes place on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first floor of the Gwangjin-gu Labor Welfare Center (116 Jayang-ro). Bottled water can be freely taken from the icebox without any separate procedures. This year, 5,760 bottles have been secured, and any mobile worker active in Gwangjin-gu can use this service until August during the summer season.

In addition, a rest area for mobile workers has been prepared. Visitors to the multipurpose room of the Gwangjin-gu Labor Welfare Center can receive basic amenities such as refreshments, coffee, and phone chargers. Guidance is also provided for those seeking legal support or labor consultations related to welfare.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We are providing cool bottled water to prevent heat-related illnesses among mobile workers during the early heatwave,” and added, “We will do our best to create a safe working environment where people can work healthily.”
