24 Billion Invested in 'Water Pipeline Maintenance Project' to Maintain 85% Water Supply Rate
Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province will implement a "Specialized Water Supply Pipeline Maintenance Project" from June until May 2027 to provide clean and safe tap water to residents and improve the water supply efficiency rate.
A total project budget of 2.4 billion KRW will be invested to conduct specialized maintenance throughout all water supply zones in Uljin County. In particular, the county will focus on maintaining the 18 sub-blocks established through the local water supply modernization project, real-time flow monitoring, and systematic block system operations to maintain a water supply efficiency rate of over 85%.
This will enable systematic facility management and operations, allowing for a prompt response to complaints regarding water quality, pressure, and leakage. Accurate cause analysis and swift maintenance will help prevent duplicate excavations and reduce wasteful budget expenditures.
Additionally, to ensure water quality stability, proactive endoscopic inspections of pipelines will be conducted in areas at risk of turbidity or poor water discharge. The causes of problems will be identified, and regular flushing of stagnant water sections and pipe cleaning will be carried out as part of proactive water quality management.
County Governor Son Byungbok stated, "We will thoroughly establish and implement a water quality assurance plan, and it may be unavoidable to carry out planned water supply interruptions for facility management and inspections." He added, "We ask for your understanding and cooperation, as these measures are necessary to provide residents with cleaner tap water."
