The Thomson-East Coast Line is one of the six subway lines in Singapore, connecting Changi International Airport to the city center. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore divided this project, which spans a total of 13 km and includes 10 stations, into 13 sections and awarded contracts to both domestic and global construction companies. In Korea, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Samsung C&T, and GS Engineering & Construction participated.

The 'T308' section, with a construction cost of approximately 340 billion KRW, was awarded in January 2016 through a joint venture between Ssangyong Engineering & Construction (holding 75% stake) and Hyundai Engineering & Construction. This project involves constructing parallel tunnels including the Marine Terrace station with an underground connecting passage over a total distance of 1.78 km. The area is a densely populated residential district with residential buildings, government offices, and school buildings on both sides of a six-lane road. Due to ground conditions featuring soft soil reclamation layers, it is considered a highly challenging construction section.

Despite the complexity of the project, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction achieved zero accidents over eight years and received a total of 10 awards from local institutions in categories such as safety and health and construction environment.

A representative from Ssangyong Engineering & Construction stated, "Since our first entry into Singapore in 1980, we have demonstrated our technological capabilities and safety management skills in the fields of high-end architecture and civil engineering. We will continue our reputation by perfectly completing the civil engineering works of two underground expressway sections currently under construction in downtown Singapore."

Meanwhile, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction has secured about 40 projects since entering the Singapore construction market in its early days in 1980.
