Goryeong County Launches Preparation Committee for Daegaya National Triathlon

Promise of a Safe and Successful Hosting of the Event

On the 21st, Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol) held the launching ceremony for the Daegaya National Triathlon Preparation Committee at the Geumbitmasil Community Center in Daegaya-eup.

About 50 related officials attended the event, including Jo Yongheum, President of the Goryeong County Sports Council, Jeon Haemyung, President of the Goryeong County Triathlon Association, Son Changhyeong, Chairman of the Preparation Committee, and Kim Sangpyo, President of the North Gyeongsang Triathlon Association.

The ceremony began with an opening declaration, followed by the national pledge, a progress report, delivery of appointment letters, and a briefing on the competition outline. In his opening remarks, Son Changhyeong, Chairman of the Preparation Committee, expressed his determination, saying, "Based on 20 years of experience and practical skills in event planning, I will do my best to ensure the safe operation of this competition and to widely promote Goryeong County."

Kang Seunggyu, former professor at Keimyung University and operator of KTS (Korea Triathlon Service), which is a platform for triathletes across the country to exchange information, also participated to provide special support for the successful hosting of the event.

Jo Seungjin, Chairman of the Safety Subcommittee (Head of the North Gyeongsang Branch of the Korea Citizen Safety Education Promotion Institute), said, "Since safety is especially important in triathlon competitions, we will pay special attention to ensure a safe event," promising to host a secure competition.

The Daegaya National Triathlon will be held under the slogan "Daegaya, which flourished with iron culture! The triathletes are coming!" from November 2 to 3 in the Ginkgo Tree Forest area of Dasan-myeon, where participants can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Nakdong River. A total of about 800 athletes are expected to compete and showcase their triathlon skills.
