'General Legal Affairs Caravan' 4th Briefing Session
As the potential for international disputes involving public enterprises engaged in overseas energy and resource projects increases, the government has begun reviewing the status of overseas disputes among related public enterprises and strengthening the capabilities of dispute managers.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a briefing session titled "4th Trade Legal Caravan: International Dispute Response Strategies for Energy and Resource Public Enterprises" at the ENA Suite Hotel in Seoul, attended by over 40 participants including public enterprises under the ministry, domestic and international international dispute experts, and legal professionals.
At this briefing, the current status of overseas disputes and past response cases of each participating institution were first reviewed in a closed session. Then, under the chairmanship of Jeong In-gyo, Director General of Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, domestic and international experts discussed in detail ▲trends in overseas investment disputes ▲establishment of proactive regulatory compliance systems ▲response strategies related to overseas regulations when expanding abroad ▲utilization of Korean-style international arbitration and best practices ▲and complex dispute resolution strategies.
Director General Jeong stated, "Especially in the energy and resource sectors, there is significant uncertainty when expanding overseas, and meticulous strategies and multifaceted capabilities are required for dispute response. The government will continue to fulfill its responsible role in strengthening our companies' international dispute capabilities."
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to continue holding briefing sessions targeting key advanced sectors to support Korean companies in maintaining global competitiveness and successfully entering overseas markets amid the changing trade environment.
