Hwang "Jeondae, Need to Create a Forum for Policy Rather Than Responsibility Debate"
Hwang Woo-yeo, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 24th regarding allegations of the Presidential Office's intervention in the July 23 party convention, "As the Emergency Response Committee Chairman, I clearly say that there is absolutely no connection between Yongsan and any specific candidate." He drew a line against concerns within political circles that the pro-Yoon faction and the Presidential Office might be supporting a particular candidate in the party leader election, and against the emerging pro-Yoon versus anti-Yoon divide.
At the Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Hwang said, "As the Emergency Response Committee Chairman who must lead a fair party convention, if such an incident occurs, I will personally verify it together with our election commission chairman, inform you, and take appropriate measures," he emphasized.
With former Emergency Response Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon, Representative Na Kyung-won, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong, and Representative Yoon Sang-hyun all declaring their candidacies for party leader, attention has been focused on where the 'Yoon sentiment' lies, and Chairman Hwang moved to calm the situation.

Chairman Hwang stressed, "Members of the National Assembly, out-of-office committee chairpersons, and key party officials including the Secretariat have an obligation of strict neutrality according to the party constitution and regulations. If any violation is revealed, severe measures will follow."
He also urged the party leader candidates to create a platform for policy rather than factional conflict or blame games during the party convention. Chairman Hwang said, "We must become one through the party convention," adding, "To do so, rather than focusing on factional conflicts or blame disputes, I hope we present livelihood measures and create a platform for policy."
He continued, "Through the party convention, we must establish conservative legitimacy and become a truly conservative party that is authentically conservative, while also paying attention to expanding our outreach to many around us," and said, "This will be the starting point of reform demanded by party members and the public."
