This donation consists of 14.5 million KRW collected from the remaining balances of transportation cards donated by citizens, and an additional 5.5 million KRW contributed by Mybi, which recently rebranded its prepaid transportation card from the unified brand ‘Cashbee’ to ‘EZL’, to support Busan’s efforts to address the low birth rate.
The funds will be used to support vulnerable groups in the region who are at risk due to pregnancy and childbirth.
Since 2013, the corporation has collected and donated a total of 39 million KRW from transportation cards donated by citizens each year. Citizens who wish to donate the remaining balance on their transportation cards can use the ‘Transportation Card Donation Box of Love’ installed at each station’s station office and safety room.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, “The heartfelt contributions of each and every Busan citizen have come together to help neighbors in need. We ask for continued interest from the community so that pregnant women in vulnerable groups do not have to give up their infants, and we at the corporation will continue to make various efforts to address the low birth rate and improve welfare for underprivileged groups in the region.”
