The Daejeon Goam Art and Culture Foundation was pointed out for inadequately establishing the Smart Lee Ungno Art Museum and neglecting the collection and management of its art pieces.
The Daejeon City Audit Committee conducted a comprehensive audit of the Daejeon Goam Art and Culture Foundation from March 18 to 22, resulting in three corrective actions, seven cautions, and four notifications.
The foundation was selected through a public contest by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and spent approximately 160 million KRW on the "Smart Lee Ungno Art Museum Establishment" project, which has been operating since December 2022. However, it was found that features such as artwork descriptions, artwork movement and rotation, and comment functions per artwork were implemented differently from the proposal request, yet the inspection was completed. Additionally, some functions requested in the proposal were not implemented but remained in maintenance without any action taken to address the malfunctions.
Furthermore, it is unclear what discussions were held regarding the selection of artworks for collection and price estimation. Although collected artworks should be managed by registering them in a ledger and management cards, it was revealed that, citing the "2017 Lee Ungno Art Museum Collection Catalog Computerization," the artworks were left unmanaged without registration in the ledger.
