The Korea Forest Service announced on the 23rd that it has partially amended the 'Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Promotion and Management of Forest Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Forest Technology Act)'.
The amendment to the Forest Technology Act was made to ease the timing of education and training completion for forest technicians and to simplify administrative procedures.
Previously, mandatory legal education for forest technicians required new trainees to complete it within one year from their first day of work, and refresher training had to be completed within three years from the previous training date.
Since the refresher training deadline was calculated based on specific dates, forest technicians frequently missed the training periods.
Accordingly, to resolve difficulties faced by forest technicians such as qualification suspension due to failure to complete refresher training on time, the Korea Forest Service relaxed the training completion deadlines through the amendment of the Forest Technology Act: new training must be completed within the following year of the year in which the first work was performed, and refresher training must be completed within three years starting from the year after the new training completion deadline.
Additionally, since April, the training method has been improved to a blended format combining face-to-face and non-face-to-face (online) education, enhancing convenience for technicians.
Shim Sang-taek, Director of the Forest Welfare Bureau at the Korea Forest Service, stated, “We will make further efforts to protect the rights and interests of forest technicians through continuous deregulation and legislative amendments.”
