Na Kyung-won Appeals for Support in TK and Chungcheong: "If You Oppose the President, It's a Total Disaster"

Next Party Leadership Challenge, Appeals for Support from Party Members
"Never Left the Party for 22 Years... A Time When Experienced People Are Needed"

On the 22nd, Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party challenging for the next party leadership, met with party members in Chungbuk and Daegu·Gyeongbuk (TK) and said, "If you confront the president, you will truly face a 'total collapse.'"

At a meeting with party members of Seongju, Goryeong, and Chilgok in Gyeongbuk that day, Na said, "We must fight hard to make the Yoon Seok-yeol administration successful."

She continued, "The party must respect its members and the senior members to establish the party's roots and history," emphasizing, "I quit being a judge and joined the party 22 years ago, and I have never left since."

Na's remarks are interpreted as alluding to the rumored discord between former Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon, a rival in the party leadership race, and President Yoon Seok-yeol. It can also be read as a claim that Han, who joined the party ahead of the last general election, is not the party's 'legitimate successor.'

Na wrote on Facebook, "Respecting the party members and the people, who are the roots and foundation of our party, is the first step to rebuilding the conservative party and succeeding in regaining power," adding, "A tree with weak roots cannot endure the season of trials."

She also expressed confidence, saying, "I believe that the person with rich experience, who knows the party better than anyone else, and who has steadfastly protected the party is none other than Na Kyung-won."

Following her meeting with Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo and Gyeongbuk Governor Lee Cheol-woo the previous day, Na attended party association events in Chungju, Chungbuk (Lee Jong-bae), Sangju and Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk (Im Yi-ja), Gyeongsan (Jo Ji-yeon), and Gumi-eul (Kang Myung-gu) on the same day.

This was her second consecutive day visiting Daegu·Gyeongbuk (TK), the party's traditional stronghold, appealing for support from party members. In the People Power Party's leadership election, party member votes account for 80% of the total.

Na pledged, "If the party becomes one that respects its members, it will become stronger," adding, "I understand the feelings of the party members well, and I will definitely achieve the conservative party's return to power."

She introduced, "The name of the primary campaign is also 'Reclaiming Power Camp,'" saying, "We must be that desperate and must win at all costs."
