Blood Alcohol Concentration, License Revocation Level
A drunk driver who abandoned their vehicle and fled was caught after a police chase.
According to the Seosan Police Station in Chungnam on the 22nd, a 112 report was received at around 10:29 PM on the 16th, stating that "a person is suspected of drunk driving in Yecheon-dong, Seosan City."
The police quickly identified the location and moved along the expected route, discovering the suspected drunk driving vehicle just 3 minutes after the report was received, and immediately ordered it to stop.
However, the driver, Mr. A (in his 30s), ignored the order and even ran a red light while fleeing about 2 km. When driving became impossible due to narrow alleyways, he abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was caught at the scene after a police pursuit.
When the police measured Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration, it was found to be at a level warranting license cancellation. During the investigation, the police also confirmed that Mr. A had multiple outstanding warrants.
A police official urged, "Please abandon the careless thought that you only need to avoid drunk driving checkpoints, and never get behind the wheel after even one drink."
