The 'Ordinance to Prevent the Inheritance of Debt by Children and Adolescents' proposed by Im Seong-hwa, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, has passed the relevant standing committee.
The ordinance allows children and adolescents under the age of 24 residing in Seo-gu to receive legal support such as ▲free legal consultations regarding renunciation or limited acceptance of inheritance due to inherited debt, ▲litigation representation, ▲and various applications and claims, making it highly effective.
Councilor Im stated, “The core purpose of this ordinance is to support children and adolescents who face economic difficulties due to their parents' debts so that they can grow into healthy members of society,” adding, “We will strive to establish an effective legal support system to protect the rights of children and adolescents and support their future.”
He also remarked, “With the enactment of this ordinance, children and adolescents at economic risk due to the inheritance of their parents' debts will receive appropriate legal support, which is expected to lay the foundation for healthy growth and independence.”
