The First Case of External Integration for Ssocar Carsharing Service
Socar announced on the 20th that it will offer a channeling service allowing car sharing to be used on Naver as well.
This channeling is the first collaboration to enable the use of Socar car sharing outside of the Socar application. It is part of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the two companies in the second half of last year, aimed at enhancing user convenience and expanding the smart mobility ecosystem.
From now on, Naver users will be able to use an additional 22,000 car sharing vehicles located at over 5,000 Socar zones nationwide through their smartphones. In particular, all processes including searching for nearby Socar zones and vehicles, making reservations, payments, and usage can be completed solely through Naver.
After payment, the service integrates an application programming interface (API) that allows the use of Socar car sharing services on Naver during the usage phase. This means users do not need to download or install a separate app and can use the Socar car sharing service with just their mobile phone registered under their name.
Socar and Naver expect this channeling to mark a turning point in providing user-centered services. By establishing an environment where Socar’s car sharing service can be used on Naver, it is anticipated that more users will be able to access convenient and efficient transportation options. Going forward, the two companies plan to continue their cooperation to promote innovation and development in the domestic mobility market while offering various user-centered services and benefits.
Customers who wish to use the Socar car sharing service can launch the Naver or Naver Map app on their mobile phone registered under their name and search for keywords such as "Socar" or "car sharing" to see nearby Socar zones and available vehicles for reservation.
Essential identity verification and driver’s license validity checks required for using the car sharing service will also be conducted through Naver Certification. Once all processes are completed, smart key permissions that allow vehicle control will be automatically generated in the Naver app and Naver Map app 10 minutes before the start of usage.
Additionally, payment through Naver Pay is available. Users of Naver Pay will have their existing payment information automatically linked, simplifying the payment process. One percent of the amount will be accumulated as points, and Naver Plus Membership subscribers can earn up to 5%. Socar has also prepared an event offering an additional 10,000 Naver Pay points to customers who reserve and complete the use of Socar car sharing services through Naver by August 20.
Jae-wook Park, CEO of Socar, said, "Through this collaboration with Naver, we hope that the 34 million licensed drivers in Korea will be able to conveniently use Socar’s services."
