Nowon District Office Transformed into an Animation Theme Figure Exhibition Hall

Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that from June 20, it will operate the second Office Gallery exhibition, the 'Figure Exhibition,' in the lobby of the Nowon-gu Office building.

The 'Figure Exhibition' is the second planned exhibition following the 'Nostalgic Retro SHOW,' held last May in the first-floor lobby of the district office, which showcased props such as old textbooks, stamps, and turntables that are now hard to find. This exhibition features various character figures themed around comics and animations from around the world.

Visitors can meet beloved cartoon characters that remain popular with children today, such as 'Doraemon' and 'Baby Dinosaur Dooly,' as well as nostalgic characters from youth like 'Run Hani Run,' 'Little Car Boong Boong,' and 'Fist Captain,' bringing back fond memories after a long time.

About 100 Korean clay figures by artist Lee Seung-soo will also be displayed. These lifelike works, where comic book protagonists seem to break through the pages and screens into real space, are expected to captivate visitors' attention.

In addition to comics and animations, a unique diorama recreating scenes from movies such as 'King Kong,' 'Saving Private Ryan,' 'Spider-Man,' and 'The Lord of the Rings' will be exhibited, the only one of its kind worldwide.

The exhibition runs from June 20 to July 31. During this period, there will be a space to browse original editions of world comics and a photo zone where visitors can take pictures with the figures.

Special events are also prepared. Character balloons will be given to the first 200 visitors, and 25 specialized figure books will be awarded to visitors who share their exhibition experience on personal SNS. The event runs on a first-come, first-served basis from June 20 to July 7.

Meanwhile, the 'Nowon Office Gallery,' which aims to bring unexpected happiness to residents visiting the district office, plans to continuously organize exhibitions with various themes until the end of the year. Upcoming exhibitions include unfamiliar but unforgettable displays such as 'Automata'?handcrafted wooden mechanical sculptures that express emotion through mechanical movement?and 'Scratchboard' print exhibitions, which create unique visual effects through delicate line work and strong contrasts of light and shadow.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Following the 'Nostalgic Retro SHOW' exhibition that evokes the nostalgia of the 70s and 80s, we have prepared the second exhibition, the 'World Movie & Animation Figure Exhibition.' I hope this unexpected exhibition will bring joy and happiness to the busy daily lives of our residents.”
