On the 19th, Miryang City and the Miryang City Facilities Management Corporation under the city announced that A submitted the resignation letter to the corporation on the 17th. The corporation plans to process the resignation as early as this week after conducting a background check according to internal personnel manuals.

Recently, a YouTuber exposing the identities of the perpetrators of this case identified A, who works at a local public enterprise in Miryang, as one of the perpetrators and revealed his identity. Since then, Miryang City and the corporation have been flooded with messages and calls demanding A's dismissal. Official social networking services (SNS) and the website were overwhelmed with posts mentioning A. In response, the corporation switched its official SNS to private on the 7th.

At that time, a netizen claiming to be A left a comment protesting, saying, "I was forced to participate due to threats from seniors I know," and "Don't harass people who are trying to live earnestly."

A is understood to have worked at a private facility management company in Miryang before joining the corporation through a public recruitment process when it was launched in 2017.

The Miryang group sexual assault case involved 44 high school students from the Miryang area sexually assaulting one middle school girl from Ulsan continuously for one year starting in December 2004. The Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office, which investigated the case at the time, indicted 10 perpetrators (7 detained, 3 not detained). Twenty were sent to juvenile detention centers. For the remaining perpetrators, the decision was 'no prosecution' either because they reached a settlement with the victim or were not included in the complaint. Recently, some YouTubers revealing the identities of the perpetrators brought renewed attention to the case, sparking controversy over 'private punishment' and other issues.
