People Power Party Finalizes Party Convention Rule with '80% Party Sentiment: 20% Public Opinion' Through National Committee

The People Power Party has finalized a proposal through a resolution of the National Committee to reflect 80% party member votes and 20% public opinion polls when electing the party leader and supreme council members.

On the afternoon of the 19th, the People Power Party held a National Committee meeting and confirmed this amendment to the party constitution through an automatic response system (ARS) vote. Among 854 national committee members, 521 participated in the vote, and 481 approved, passing the agenda as originally proposed with the majority of the total members' consent.


The People Power Party stated, "The amendment to the party constitution approved today aims to become a party that better reflects public sentiment," and added, "We will become a People Power Party that approaches the people more closely and listens more attentively to the opinions of the public."


Hwang Woo-yeo, the Emergency Response Committee Chairman, said before the vote, "This amendment to the party constitution was prepared by gathering opinions from inside and outside the party as much as possible," and "It includes respect, consideration, and morale boosting for party members who have devoted themselves to the party for a long time, responding to the public demand to show the face of an open party."
