About 32 experts attended the seminar to discuss theories and practical applications of evidence-based police activities, including security policy, AI learning from security data, investigation from a forensic psychology perspective, and research methodology.
In the first session, presentations and discussions were held on topics such as an overview of evidence-based security policy in Korea and police officers' perceptions of research evidence. The second session covered the application of evidence-based security policy, including the application and utilization of longitudinal studies, the feasibility and reliability issues of AI learning from security data, and investigative issues and alternatives from a forensic psychology perspective. The third session featured discussions for emerging scholars on the necessity of competencies for senior police officials, cognitive closure needs, and decision-making.
Park Jaepung, president of the Korean Society of Public Administration, said, “Through this joint academic seminar, we expect to provide new insights into evidence-based police activities grounded in scientific research to professors, researchers, field police officers, practitioners, and those working in the security field, and to increase trust in scientific research.”
Lee Insang, director of the Institute of Security Policy, stated, “This year is a period of active discussion on the development of scientific security, and a theoretical and practical foundation for scientific research on evidence must be established to advance science, technology, and policy.”
