"Expected Effect of Reducing Household Communication Costs"

K-ON Network (K-ON) and Mirae Mobile have joined forces to create a service model through the construction of a metro ultra-high-speed communication network.

K-ON, which is undertaking the construction of an ultra-high-speed free Wi-Fi network based on the subways of six major cities, announced on the 19th that it has signed a strategic business agreement with Mirae Mobile, which had previously challenged the new 5G 28 GHz business.

K-ON Network is a company that obtained a licensed telecommunications operator status last July for nationwide internet line services.

It has secured capital of 19 billion KRW and was allocated the 22 GHz to 23.6 GHz frequency band by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It plans to provide free Wi-Fi services at speeds of 2.4 Gbps, which is 20 times faster than LTE-based Wi-Fi.

Mirae Mobile will utilize the accumulated human and technical know-how from establishing 28 GHz base stations and other business plans. It will cooperate in developing the wireless network system and service model for K-ON’s metro ultra-high-speed communication network construction.

Mirae Mobile is also consulting with financial institutions, distributors, and the budget phone industry to create a differentiated service cooperation model that can enhance the competitiveness of budget phones.

Jo Yoon-sung, Vice President of K-ON Network, said, "With Mirae Mobile, which is preparing to innovate the budget phone ecosystem following the metro ultra-high-speed communication network, we will be able to maximize the effect of reducing household communication costs."

Yoon Ho-sang, CEO of Mirae Mobile, stated, "I am confident that combining budget phone services with the metro ultra-high-speed communication network centered on six metropolitan cities will create an innovative mobile communication ecosystem."
