A man in his 30s who threatened a female neighbor with a weapon over noise complaints between floors was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 19th, Judge Kim Ji-hoo of the Criminal Division 2 at Incheon District Court announced that A (33), who was indicted on charges of special intimidation, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year suspension.
Judge Kim also ordered A to undergo probation and complete 80 hours of community service.
A was brought to trial on charges of threatening B, a woman in her 20s living in a neighboring unit in a multi-family housing complex in Seo-gu, Incheon, with a weapon last April. He allegedly threatened B, who came to his home to complain about noise between floors, by holding a weapon and saying, "I will dismember you."
Judge Kim stated, "The defendant threatened the victim with a weapon, which is a very serious offense," and added, "The victim appears to have suffered significant psychological trauma."
However, the judge explained the sentencing by saying, "The crime was committed impulsively, and the defendant admitted to the crime from the investigation stage and showed remorse," and "Considering that the defendant moved to another area after the incident and that this is his first offense."
