Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province is strengthening its quarantine measures to prevent the introduction of African Swine Fever (ASF) into pig farms.
Cheongsong County is making an all-out effort in quarantine to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).
This action is being taken in response to the serious situation following the outbreak of African Swine Fever at a pig farm in the neighboring area of Yeongcheon on the 15th, raising concerns about additional cases and further spread.
The county issued a temporary movement restriction order for workers and vehicles related to livestock facilities, including pig farms, from 10 p.m. on the 15th to 10 p.m. on the 17th. In addition, two disinfection vehicles from the Cheongsong-Yeongyang Livestock Cooperative Joint Quarantine Team were deployed to conduct thorough disinfection of the entrances and exits of pig farms.
The county also conducted clinical and detailed inspections of pig farms that had epidemiological links with vehicles that had transported pigs from the farm where African Swine Fever occurred.
Furthermore, by assigning dedicated supervisors to each farm, the county will continue to thoroughly promote and inspect quarantine guidelines, and will disinfect the areas around farms daily using the Livestock Cooperative Joint Quarantine Team.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee said, "Since self-imposed quarantine by farms is crucial for preventing African Swine Fever, I ask that thorough disinfection be carried out." He added, "As African Swine Fever can cause serious damage not only to pig farms but also to the local economy, I urge residents to refrain from approaching pig farms and areas where wild boars have been found, and to strictly observe quarantine guidelines."
