The Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition is one of Asia's four major food exhibitions and has established itself as a key platform in the global food industry. This year marked the 42nd edition of the event, with 1,605 food companies from 51 countries participating. Approximately 53,000 visitors attended the event, about 26% more than last year, setting a record for the largest number of attendees.
Notably, this year saw a remarkable surge in K-Food export enthusiasm targeting the global food market. A total of 240 key global distribution network buyers invited by KOTRA's overseas trade offices and over 640 domestic companies conducted on-site export business, resulting in export consultations worth $240 million. There were also achievements such as on-site export contracts related to the North American market, the top export preference region for K-Food companies.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA will host 'Seoul Food in Bangkok 2024' in the second half of the year to help domestic food companies penetrate the ASEAN market. The event will feature a B2B (business-to-business) exhibition and a B2C (business-to-consumer) pop-up store at ICONSIAM, Bangkok's largest tourist attraction and shopping mall.
Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, stated, "We will prepare more innovative programs next year," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that the Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition grows into a leading exhibition that sets trends in the global food industry."
