Planting of Over 14,000 Hydrangeas of 17 Varieties to Create a Themed Landscape
Daon Forest, located in Yangpo-dong, Gumi, Gyeongbuk, is emerging as a new attraction with its colorful hydrangea flowers.
In May, the city planted hydrangeas as a specialized landscape species in the Flower Wall Garden (Gyeongbuk-style village forest garden) within Daon Forest.
The Gyeongbuk-style village forest garden, composed of various themed spaces such as the Grass Garden, Rock Garden, and Vertical Garden, is the region's first customized garden created to expand green living spaces. In connection with the existing hydrangea garden in Daon Forest, a hydrangea-specialized garden, rarely seen in the central region, has been established.
At Daon Forest, visitors can enjoy 17 varieties of beautiful hydrangeas in vibrant colors (blue, red, purple, pink, etc.), including Popup, Morning Star, Verena, Endless Summer, Pimpernel, and LA Dreamin, until the end of June.
As early summer arrives and the hydrangeas reach full bloom, the number of visitors to Daon Forest is gradually increasing, with nearby daycare centers and kindergartens coming for picnics and taking memorable photos. Especially since it is a hydrangea complex not commonly found in Gyeongbuk, word of mouth is spreading and attracting visitors from other regions as well.
Mayor Kim Jangho said, "We expect Daon Forest in Gumi to establish itself as a local hydrangea attraction. Along with the Yoshino cherry tree path, Acacia Garden, and Emerald Green Path currently in Daon Forest, we will continue to plant flowers and trees with various blooming periods so that local residents can enjoy a comfortable and beautiful healing space in the city throughout all four seasons."
