Driver Driving with Window Open at Midnight Startles Adjacent Lane

The image of a driver driving on the road at midnight using their feet instead of hands has been revealed online, sparking outrage among netizens.

On the 17th, a video titled "White Avante HD operating the steering wheel with feet" was posted on the online community BobaeDream's Instagram. The video, apparently filmed from a car in the adjacent lane, shows a white passenger car driving on a dark night road.

The driver of the white vehicle was driving with their feet placed on the steering wheel instead of their hands, reclining the driver's seat back and almost lying down. The window was fully rolled down, and the driver leisurely brushed their hair with their right hand.

Netizens expressed dismay at the reckless behavior. Comments from viewers included, "Driving like a foot (play on words with '족' meaning foot and a slang term)," "It looks like a car without autonomous driving features. Hope they quietly go alone without causing harm to others," and "They're on the road to heaven. Don't follow them."

A similar controversy occurred in February. At that time, JTBC's Incident Manager aired a video showing a 5-ton large truck driver on what appeared to be a highway, driving with both feet on the steering wheel instead of hands. The video, shared in January within a car enthusiast club, shocked viewers as the driver danced the 'Giyeok-Nieun (ㄱㄴ) dance' with their hands to music, operated the steering wheel with their feet, and even honked the horn with another foot.

Meanwhile, Article 48, Paragraph 1 of the Road Traffic Act stipulates that all vehicle drivers must operate the steering, braking, and other devices accurately and must not drive at speeds or in ways that pose danger or obstruction to others. Violations are punishable by a fine of up to 200,000 won, detention, or a penalty. Driving with feet is considered a failure to operate the steering device accurately and can be subject to sanctions as it threatens other drivers.
