Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held an awards ceremony for the essay contest and drawing competition commemorating the ‘2024 Gwangjin Family Festival’ on the 15th at the district office auditorium.

The ‘Gwangjin Family Festival,’ held on the 25th of last month, is a cultural and artistic festival aimed at promoting communication and harmony among families. A total of 794 children, adolescents, and adults participated in the competition held that day, showcasing their artistic talents on the themes of family, dreams, and happiness.

A total of 116 winners were selected. Among 246 essay submissions, 39 were chosen, and among 358 drawings, 77 were selected. The judging was conducted through expert review by the Gwangjin-gu Writers’ Association, Gwangjin-gu Art Association, and external committee members.

The awards ceremony was attended by the winners and their families. The grand prize in the essay contest was awarded to six participants who conveyed sincerity with the themes ‘Parents’ Faces,’ ‘Joyful Days,’ and ‘In the Name of Family.’ The grand prize in the drawing competition was awarded to eight students who demonstrated artistic quality and creativity with the themes ‘My Dream’ and ‘Our Happy Family.’

Meanwhile, there was a special case where all family members who participated in the competition won awards, creating a memorable experience. Lee Mi-jung, the mother, said, “I will never forget this amazing and happy moment of receiving awards together with my husband and daughter.”

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, congratulated the participants, saying, “I hope this competition will be remembered as a meaningful memory that reminds us of the importance of family,” and added, “We will create a warm and happy Gwangjin-gu, just like the family images contained in your works.”
