According to the Cheonan Ship Foundation on the 17th, Lee made the donation to the foundation in June, the Month of Patriots and Veterans. Lee said, "I am always grateful to those who devoted their lives for the country," adding, "I hope this will be used to honor and remember their noble sacrifices."

Established in 2010 with public donations, the Cheonan Ship Foundation is a non-profit public organization that supports memorials for the 46 Cheonan Ship heroes, assists their bereaved families, and helps the crew members settle into society after the attack.

A representative of the Cheonan Ship Foundation said, "We are grateful for this precious donation," and added, "We will use it to remember the Cheonan Ship heroes and support their families and veterans."
