On the 14th, Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, attended the 'Listening Wisdom: Different Perspectives Book Talk,' which combined a lecture by a famous author and a dialogue with citizens, engaging in communication with citizens of various generations.
'Listening Wisdom: Different Perspectives Book Talk' was planned to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the 8th local government administration, aiming to empathize and discuss individual growth and the city's development direction together.
The event was held under the theme "Big Data Reading the World, Connecting Eras and Generations," inviting author Song Gil-young, who wrote the Bucheon Mayor's recommended book "Era Forecast: The Age of the Nuclear Individual." A total of 250 citizens attended, and the program included Part 1: Author's lecture, Part 2: Dialogue between the Bucheon Mayor and the author, and musical performances.
The dialogue with the author focused on keywords related to a sense of belonging such as ▲The End of Filial Piety ▲It's not 'Age' but 'Me' ▲'Bucheonler.' It addressed self-development and independence according to changing life cycles and local pride of the city, providing time to explore Bucheon's future vision suitable for the era of personalization.

In particular, Mayor Jo communicated with citizens by discussing current social phenomena such as changes in personal values, family structures, social patterns, the super-aged society, the burden of support, and public systems for individual growth and coexistence, along with corresponding city policies.
Mayor Jo stated, "In the past, it was said that 'the whole village raises a child,' but now the expression 'the whole village takes care of the elderly' fits the current situation," and explained, "Bucheon City is implementing community-based care policies such as 'Community Integrated Care' and 'Smart Welfare Safety Community,' solving problems together with the community."
Meanwhile, the event collected citizens' opinions through various methods such as using pre-submitted questions and passing the microphone. It was notable that many citizens expressed pride in 'Cultural City Bucheon.' One citizen, during a conversation on the theme of 'Pride of Bucheon Citizens,' said, "Seeing South Korea raising the status of K-culture worldwide, I feel proud that Bucheon is a leading representative cultural city and literary creative city."
Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City, said, "We will nurture Bucheon’s unique identity and characteristics as a cultural city into future industries," adding, "Using the wisdom of citizens heard today as a lever, we will focus on enhancing the city's competitiveness as an advanced industrial future city and self-sufficient city, and further raising citizens' pride."
